Uncovering the Vanagon Everywhere: Roadways, Movies and Craigslist

Vanagon Spotting: Once you discover the Vanagon, you see them everywhere!

The introduction to the vanagon is one of the most interesting, life changing events one could have. I remember the early years of learning about these well designed vehicles and then started to spot them everywhere. It's mind opening how common they are and how they were overlooked before really knowing what the Vanagon really is. Each sighting brings a rush and the analysis that happens afterwords as it is broken down by color, year, and type!

As enjoyable it is to view Vanagon's in the wild, it's a treat to see them in movies too! While the traditional Volkswagen Bus is a popular sight in movies, it's an even more rare occasion to see the Vanagon in movies. Some movies use the VW bus as a central theme of a movie, while others may just have it in the background. The Internet Movie Car Database has these buses listed in each movie they show up in. Of course Little Miss Sunshine is not to be forgotten in this discussion of Volkswagen buses in movies on the ultimate road trip adventure!

The Vanagon has (and still becoming) a popular cultural icon. Hollywood has shown the vanagon some love with a variety of movies highlighting the multi-purpose of a vanagon on the silk screen. Listed below are a few movies showcasing this amazing vehicle!

The Borne Identity (2002)

The Whistle Blower (2010)

Angels & Demons (2009)

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2013)

Keep those eyes sharp for those Vanagons. They are out there and they can pop out at you when you least expect it. If you still need to get your fix of vanagons, check out the latest posts right here on VwVanagons.blogspot.com
